Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures, also known as Universal City Studios or Universal Studios, is a subsidiary of NBC Universal, and is one of the major movie studios. 

It was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, a german-jewish who settled in Wisconsin. On May 2004, the company was sold to  General Electric, parent of NBC, because Vivendi Universal is in great debt that time. The merged production is later called NBC Universal, while Universal Studios remained as a subsidiary.
